Teens share their love of reading!

The library’s Teen Advisory Board recently spent part of their Saturday morning to assist the Literacy Council of Southwestern PA (the Literacy Council) with the Baby Book Bag project.  Through the Baby Book Bag project, the Literacy Council strives to promote literacy from birth.  The Baby Book Bag features tote bags which are hand-stuffed by community volunteers; screen-printed with a special logo; filled with a children’s book, literature outlining the importance of reading to babies from birth and other materials; then distributed to new mothers at the Washington Hospital System’s Nursery Unit.  TAB members and Ms. Beth assembled two hundred bags for this project.  Thanks to the Literacy Council for providing us this awesome volunteer activity!
