Barb “Ms. Barb” Somma
Barb has been with the library since 2010. Before coming to the Frank Sarris Library she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Special Education. She has been working with children for the past 30 years in many venues: public/private schools, preschools, and afterschool programs. She also has two children of her own.
If you want to hear a great story, sing some songs and do awesome crafts then you need to meet Ms. Barb. Find her in the story time room on weekday mornings, leading story time, Little Picassos, Wiggles and Giggles, and Summer Quest. If she is not there, you’ll find her in her office busy planning the next great children’s program or event.
Amy has been with the Library since 2007. Before coming to the library she earned a B.S in Elementary Education and a Masters in Library and Informational Sciences. Amy worked at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and has worked as a librarian and a classroom substitute in the public school system. She has two children.
Ms. Amy brings a great love and knowledge of children’s and teen books to the library, maintaining and buying for our collection. She’s always ready to help you find the perfect book. When she is not stirring young minds you can find her spreading her love of books through outreach to local preschools and day care facilities.
Beth has been with the library since 2014. Before coming to the Frank Sarris Library, she earned a B.S in Accounting. Beth worked in public accounting and internal audit prior to joining our team. Her attention to detail and her interpersonal and organizational skills have been a huge asset to our library. She has two children and a few furry family members as well.
Ms. Beth leads our Teen Advisory Board which is open to students in 7th – 12th grade. Our TAB is active and strong and engages in multiple activities throughout the year. Ms. Beth enjoys working with the TAB members and allowing them opportunities to shine! She also works at the children’s circulation desk so say hello the next time you visit.
Anne joined the staff in November 2018. She graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD with a BS degree in Biology and worked many years as a Molecular Biologist and retired to become a ‘stay-at-home-mom’. Anne keeps busy with crocheting, gardening and bird watching. She has one child.
Ms. Anne wears many hats at the library including working the circulation desk, leading “Babies, Books and More” and “Library Adventures”, and assisting with Summer Quest..She loves reading and doing crafts with the kids and interacting with the patrons of the library.
Nashelly’s first experience working with children started in 1992 in an immersion program, helping non-English speaking students. This program lead her to pursue classes in Early Childhood Education, which she used while working with several after school programs. Nashelly has been with the WAGGIN Library System for a little over a year, working at the Chartiers-Houston Community Library prior to joining the FSPL staff in 2019.
Ms. Nashelly brings her enthusiasm to a weekly story time program – Escuelita (Little School). This program teaches basic Spanish and embraces culture, music, and literacy, while strengthening social and motor skills. She also works at both circulation desks and is happy to help you find materials or answer questions you may have.
