Barb “Ms. Barb” Somma

Barb has been with the library since 2010.  Before coming to the Frank Sarris Library she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Special Education.  She has been working with children for the past 30 years in many venues: public/private schools, preschools, and afterschool programs.  She also has two children of her own.

If you want to hear a great story, sing some songs and do awesome crafts then you need to meet Ms. Barb.  Find her in the story time room on weekday mornings, leading story time, Little Picassos, Wiggles and Giggles, and Summer Reading Club.  If she is not there, you’ll find her in her office busy planning the next great Children’s program or event.

Amy Weir

Amy has been with the Library since 2007.  Before coming to the library she earned a B.S in Elementary Education and a Masters in Library and Informational Sciences.  Amy worked at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and has worked as a librarian and a classroom sub in the public school system.  She has two small children.

Ms. Amy brings a great love and knowledge of children’s and teen books to the library, maintaining and buying for our collection. She’s always ready to help you find the perfect book. But evenings are when she really does her magic. She is inspiring future architects each week at Lego club, and families enjoy her stories, crafts and awesome experiments at Family Night.  When she is not stirring young minds you can find her spreading her love of books through outreach to local preschools and daycares.

Beth Kairush

Beth has been with the library since 2014.  Before coming to the Frank Sarris Library, she earned a B.S in Accounting. Beth worked in public accounting and internal audit prior to joining our team.  Her many years of crunching numbers and her interpersonal and organizational skills have been a huge asset to our teen department.  She has two children.

Leading teens is not an easy job, but Ms. Beth rocks.  Our TAB (teen advisory board) is active and strong.  Ms. Beth can also be found overseeing our high school book club discussions that are run by TAB members.

Benson Gardner

Benson has been with the library since 2013, assisting patrons for the past three years.  Prior to coming to the library, Benson attended Fort Cherry High School.  He brings his creative mind and love for adventure to the Frank Sarris Library.

Benson picks family friendly movies and makes tasty popcorn each Saturday, and is also our resident Dungeon Master.  When Benson is not leading you through an adventure, he can be found assisting patrons at the circulation desk or leading our volunteers through their duties.
